The ARTUR project aims first to assess the impact of tourism on air quality and secondly to investigate how air quality could be a criterion to increase the competitiveness of a tourism destination, focusing on the central region of Portugal.
To this purpose, the work is structured into 5 specific tasks:
- T1. Characterization of tourism sector and its emissions
- T2. Impact assessment of tourism on air quality
- T3. Evaluation of air quality on the attractiveness of touristic destinations
- T4. Assessment of how visitors' behaviour can influence air quality
- T5. Guidelines to support future strategies on tourism sector
